About Us

The Zonta Club of Milford was formed in 1958 and is a proud member of Zonta International, a leading global organization working to promote justice and universal respect for women's rights and fundamental freedoms, no matter where they live. We are one of the first service organizations in the world to understand women's unique role in shaping women's lives.
Zonta International has approximately 1200 clubs in 63 countries. Service projects of Zonta International include mini loans to women in Africa to start businesses, education for women in Afghanistan, ending child marriages in 12 countries, stopping female genital mutilation and providing medical assistance for women.

On a local level, the Zonta Club of Milford provides scholarships to women who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives. We award the Mary Lou Gharrity Scholarship to high schools seniors looking to continue their education in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field. We also provide Continuing Education Scholarships to women who are working towards improving their situations to be financially self-sufficient to care for their families. And we provide scholarships to the Inland Seas adventure for 10th and 11th graders interested in a STEM field experience on the Great Lakes.

In addition to funding these scholarships, the Zonta Club of Milford provides funding and support to fight human trafficking and domestic violence.  We work on projects to support our local community and provide service to emerging needs.
